Water construction to begin soon

PLANTERSVILLE — Construction should begin soon here on a water project along Country Road 305.
The Dallas County Commission approved a contract with Tri-County Construction Co. for $109,353 Monday to get the work under way.
The bid was much lower than the $150,902 awarded in a grant from the Alabama-Tombigbee Regional Commission.
“Like everything we are bidding now, this came in way below what it should be,” said Dallas County Probate Judge Kim Ballard. “The excess money will not be left on the table. We’ve talked and we will be able to do one of two things. The first is we can use a 6-inch line, where applicable, instead of a 3-inch line. If we don’t do that, ten we can extend the distance of the water like down (County Road) 305 to pick up several more homes.”
The water project is the result of a long four years of work for residents of County Road 305 and the commission.
Frazier/Ousley completed the construction plans for the project. The commission paid that invoice totaling $13,567.40.
