Solving a problem the first time through

Something needs to be done about Selma High School. Just about everyone has an opinion what needs doing.
Selma School System Superintendent Dr. Austin Obasohan made a comment about something needing to be done when he arrived in Selma some months ago.
Recognizing an issue is the first step in reaching a solution. Answers take time and many points of view are needed, especially on a project as big as renovating or constructing a new high school.
Building community consensus is important; finding financing; making the project fit the financing and then turning dirt.
Obasohan is moving very slowly, methodically toward a solution. His deliberate, but cautious approach to the high school construction issue has some people complaining. Those critics should stop and think for a moment.
Without a well-thought out plan the high school project just might falter.
Obasohan is correct to look at this issue from all sides before committing to a certain direction. He should be appreciated for his restraint.
