Selma All-Stars stay alive in Eufaula

EUFAULA — Eddie Thigpen singled in the winning run as Selma slipped by Eufaula 8-7 Sunday and eliminated the host team from the state Dixie Boys baseball tournament at the Old Creek Town Park.

Eufaula took advantage of Selma errors in the top of the seventh inning to grab a 7-4 lead going into Selma’s half. With two men on base, Selm a’s Dylan Lawrence singled in one run. Catcher Ethan Fancher followed with a double off the fence that tied the game at 7-7.

Then Thigpen’s hit ended the game and Eufaula’s chances of winning the tournament as the host.

Joey Raybon went 5 2/3 innings for Selma on the mound.

Selma plays the 8 p.m. game today against one of three opponents. Saks and Westside of Mobile were playing the late game Sunday. The winner of that game plays AUM-Montgomery at 11:30 a.m. today.

Then the winner of the 11:30 a.m. game takes on Selma at 8 p.m. today.
