Dr. Donnie Blanton of Selma shot an even-par 71 Sunday to finish with a 4-under 209 and captured the State Senior Amateur Championship by three shots at the Selma Country Club.

Blanton, who led the first round and was tied for the second-round lead, stayed even in the 90-degree temperatures that had dominated the three-day, 54-hole event. Mike Greer of Birmingham, who was tied for the second-round lead, shot a 3-over 74 and finished with a 1-under 212.
