Elise Hagood Wade, age 90, a resident of Carlowville, Alabama died Tuesday, May 19, 2009. She was the daughter of Dr. Robert Bragg Hagood and Aline Meadows Hagood of Lowndesboro. Funeral services will be held on Friday, May 22, 2009, at 3:00 p.m. at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Carlowville, AL, with The Reverend Louie Skipper officiating and Dunklin &Daniels Funeral Home directing. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends after the services at Mrs. Wade’s home at Centre Ridge in Carlowville.
Mrs. Wade graduated from Hayneville High School and Alabama College, Montevallo. She was a member of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church and active in church work. She was President of the Women of the Church, served on the Vestry as Junior Warden, taught in Church School for many years, and led Confirmation Classes.
She was preceded in death by her parents, sisters Demovelle, Clara, and Elizabeth, and her husband, James Calhoun Wade, Sr.
She is survived by her brother, Robert Bragg Hagood, and his wife, Georgia Bell Hagood. Also surviving are her son, James Calhoun Wade, Jr., and his wife, The Rev. Elizabeth Till Wade; their sons, David Wade, and his wife, Carley, and James Wade and his wife, Kathleen. She is also survived by her son, Robert Hagood Wade, and his wife, Jane Doswell Wade; their daughter, Aline Wade Bou, her husband Vutha, and sons, Davis and Grayson; and their son, Robert Wade, and his wife, Sara.
