Montgomery holds off Mobile, 5-4

MOBILE — Montgomery stormed to a 5-1 lead then held off homestanding Mobile on Tuesday to win 5-4 in Southern League baseball action.
Aneury Rodriguez (1-5) broke the winless season with his first victory, with a five-inning one-hitter. He walked four and fanned five in the effort.
Calvin Medlock picked up his seventh save.
The Biscuits scored early on timely hitting in the second inning, leading off with Jason Perry’s double to center field. He later scored on J.T. Hall’s ground out. Rashad Eldridge then scored on Peter Clifford’s single.
Montgomery added another run on a fielder’s choice in the third inning. Then an error in the fifth inning put Montgomery ahead 4-0.
After Mobile scored one run in the sixth inning, the Biscuits went ahead 5-1 in the sixth with a single by Perry to score Desmond Jennings.
Montgomery plays Mobile at 11:35 a.m. today.
