When the Dallas County School Board meeting convenes on Monday, there is a chance that Dallas County High School’s new head football coach will be named.
“There’s a possibility,” said Dallas County Schools Superintendent Dr. Fannie Major-McKenzie. “I can’t guarantee that that’s going to happen. There’s a possibility, but I’m not sure at this point.”
Board members were issued information packets on the candidates last week. If a recommendation is made at tonight’s board meeting, the board will vote.
When Administrative Assistant Don Willingham left town on Friday to attend a management workshop, a new hire was expected.
“When I left Friday, our intentions were to recommend someone to the board,” said Willingham. “It was originally intended to be on the agenda for tonight. They were discussing recommendations with board members.”
According to McKenzie, if a new coach is selected, the knowledge will be made public.
“We’re in that process,” said McKenzie. “At a board meeting, it will be public knowledge when we make the decision.”
Willingham and McKenzie did not divulge the number of candidates under consideration or which candidates lead the pack.
