The cause of a fire that resulted in major property damage to an abandoned house at the intersection of Old Montgomery Highway and Wrenwood Drive on Sunday is unknown.

Selma Fire battalion chief Mike Stokes said the cause of the fire is unknown.

“We still don’t know who the property owner is,” said Stokes. “It was unoccupied, The cause of the fire was undetermined.”

Arson has not been completely ruled out.

The fire caused major damage at the rear of the house in the garage area, and moderate smoke damage in other parts.
