Southside 4, Dallas County 3
After losing 11-0 in the first game of a doubleheader on Friday, Southside earned redemption with a 4-3 win in game two.
Jamal Dudley went 1-for-3 with an inside-the-park home run. Wilbert McConico each added a single.
Drew Blackmon went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead Dallas County. Justin McAfee went 1-for-3 with a triple.
Softball
Dallas County 9, Tuscaloosa Central 0
One day after banging out eight doubles against Billingsley, Dallas County kept the bats hot in a 9-0 victory over Tuscaloosa Central.
Kim Ross led all hitters with a double and a home run. Keneasha Jefferson followed the Ross home run in the third inning with one of her own. Ilicia Stewart added a double in the third as the Hornets took an 8-0 lead.
Cassie Daniels picked up the win on the mound throwing a no-hitter and striking out 12 batters.
The win caps a three-game span this week where the Lady Hornets have won by a combined 32-3 score while ripping 15 doubles and three home runs. During the same stretch, Daniels and Whitney Denson have yielded only three hits while recording 28 strikeouts. The defense has backed them up with only two errors.
The Lady Hornets play Jeff Davis Friday at 4 p.m. in Plantersville.
Central Christian 21, Warrior Academy 6
Febie Motley led Central Christian to a 21-6 rout of Warrior on Thursday.
Motley finished with a grand slam and three runs. Chelsea Perry crossed the plate four times. Chasity Minter scored three runs as well, including an inside-the-park home run.
Perry pitched all five innings for the Warriors.
