State agents with the Alabama Bureau of Investigation, Alabama State troopers and deputies with the Lowndes County Sheriff’s Department have raided Whitehall Gaming Center on U.S. Highway 80 in Hayneville.
A resident of Whitehall, Doris Gresham, was inside the building about 5 a.m., when she saw officers come into the gaming establishment. “They were all over the place,” she said.
Authorities posted sheriff’s deputies and state troopers at the front doors of the gaming center.
James McBride, a security guard who has worked at the center for about 1 1/2 years, said he reported for his 8 a.m. shift, but was turned away. McBride said state Attorney General Troy King visited Whitehall about a month ago to check the machines on site.
