Dear editor,
I want to thank all who made my 100th birthday on March 5, 2009, special. I want to thank Mayor George Evans for taking time out of his busy schedule to bring me a greeting in person. That really meant a lot to me.
The Selma Times-Journal and George Jones; he came out to cover my birthday for the newspaper and took photos.
Special thanks to my closest friends, Sara Bowman and Mrs. Davis for arranging the birthday party for me. These folks are special and go out of their way to assist me daily without public thanks and acknowledgement. It is good to have good friends that you can count on and I can always count on these folks.
I also want to thank the staff at Warren Manor Rehab facility for their help getting ready for the party and working with Mrs. Bowman and Mrs. Davis to make the party possible.
Thanks to the V.I.P. Organization Inc., Visually Impaired People Organization, for naming me “Visually Impaired Person” of the year for 2009 and the pens and magnifier they gave me as a gift. I really needed them.
I feel 16 again and look forward to many more birthdays and to anyone who was not mentioned, thank you for your help as well as for making my day special.
Sincerely,
Mary Goldsby
Selma
