Rhonda Abbott, deputy director of the DHS/EMA in Dallas County, just released a weather statement from the National Weather Service in Birmingham predicting possible snowfall in Central Alabama on Monday afternoon and Monday evening.
The forecast is for rain to spread across all of Central Alabama on Monday. A transition from rain to snow will likely start across Northwest Alabama Monday afternoon and spread eastward through the evening. Once the transition occurs, there could be a period of several hours of snowfall before the moisture moves out of the area. It is too early to predict if there will be any snowfall accumulations.
A cold air mass will move into the state on Tuesday, forcing low temperatures in the middle-to-upper teens across North Alabama on Wednesday morning.
More information will follow as it is released.
