An Elmore County man charged in the shooting death of his 16-year-old neighbor is being held on $50,000 bond.

Sheriff Bill Franklin said 24-year-old Randy Memetrius Martin is charged with murder for Saturday’s slaying of Qauntavis Wilkes, a sophomore at Stanhope Elmore High School.

Franklin says Wilkes died of a gunshot wound to the chest at Martin’s mobile home Saturday evening at about 6:30 p.m.

Investigators said an argument over missing property led to the fatal shooting.

It was the second homicide in Elmore Co. this month.
