The Columbus Development Authority says a manufacturer of car mats and trunk liners has shelved plans to open a west Georgia plant to supply the Kia factory being built in the region.
DongNam Tech Co. Ltd. announced last year that it would invest $29 million in a 100,000-square-foot building in the Muscogee Technology Park, creating 350 jobs within five years.
The authority said Wednesday in a news release from the Greater Columbus Chamber of Commerce that the South Korea-based DongNam has been purchased by another firm, NVH Korea.
The statement said K.B. Lee, president and CEO of DongNam Tech, announced that the new owner has halted plans to open the automotive supply plant in Columbus, which was intended to provide products to the West Point, Ga., Kia plant.
