Tyler Moore Sr

Tyler Glenwood Moore, Sr. born September 02, 1924 in Selma, Alabama, passed away at home on January 17, 2009.
Survivors include his wife of 60 years Mary Louise Wood Moore, five children, Jerry Moore of Prattville, T. Glen (Linda) Moore, Jr. of Selma, David (Sue) Moore, of Selma, Mary Jane (John) Cook of Prattville, Steve (Mary Jane) Moore, of Selma. Eleven grandchildren and one step grandchild, thirteen great grandchildren and one step-great grandchild, two sisters, Marion Sumerlin, Selma and Jane (Paul) Klinner of Prattville and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, John T. and Fannie Moore and two brothers, Charney (Mack) Moore and Franklin Moore. During WWII he served in the Pacific Theater. He was with the 10th Army, 7th Division, 32nd Infantry, Company H. he received the Asiatic Pacific Campaign Medal, the Purple Heart and Good Conduct Medal. He was the oldest living member of American Legion Post 20, 63 years membership. After separation from the Army he was a farmer in Dallas County.
Funeral services are 1:30 p.m. Tuesday January 20th at Lawrence Brown-Service Funeral Home with burial at New Live Oak Cemetery. Family visitation was held Monday January 19, 2009 between 6:00 and 8:00 p.m. Pallbearers will be grandsons, Zachary Moore, Brian Moore, Eric Moore, Matthew Moore, Mike Davenport, Doug Davenport and Timothy Lyness.
The family request that if you would like to make a donation it can be made to Shady Grove Baptist Church in Burnsville. Flowers are also being accepted.
