Two Selma men each received 40-year prison sentences Monday after pleading guilty to two counts of robbery in the first degree.
Circuit Judge Tommy Jones handed down the sentences to Eric Young of 1200 Green St. and Christopher Baity, 1207 Lawrence St.
The two men were arrested and charged by Selma police officers in connection with the July 29, 2006, armed robbery of Auto Zone. Court files show that the two suspects walked in and held John Ogden and Charles Boyd at gunpoint at closing time.
Court files indicate that Baity and Young took about $8,000 in cash from the business.
“We are going to keep letting these gunslingers know that this is not the wild, wild West,” said District Attorney Michael Jackson in response to the sentence.
