Several local schools will close Tuesday afternoon because of the threat of severe weather today.

Rhonda Abbott, deputy director of the Dallas County Emergency Management Agency, announced several minutes ago, the following closings:

Dallas County School System, noon, county basketball games are canceled.

Central Christian Academy, 1 p.m., basketball games canceled.

Meadowview Christian School, 1 p.m., basketball games canceled.

Morgan Academy, 1 p.m., basketball games canceled.

Selma City Schools will remain open Tuesday, according to Crystal Boykin, a spokeswoman for Selma City Schools.
