The Keith Christmas Tournament begins at 2 p.m. on Monday at Keith.
The 3-day tournament combines girls’ and boys’ basketball teams. The winners of the girls’ and boys’ basketball tournaments will be crowned on Christmas Eve.
“We’ve got some pretty good competition coming through,” said Keith coach Tommy Tisdale. “A lot of the teams have gotten off to a very fast start. The field is very competitive. ”
The Greensboro and Calhoun girls’ teams kick the tournament off. The boys’ and girls’ tournaments alter court priveleges until the Selma-Dallas County girls matchup concludes the day.
The Keith girls play the Southside-Demopolis winner at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The boys play the next game against the winner of Autaugaville-Demopolis.
The Bears (2-6) have struggled thus far, but Tisdale sees the tournament as an opportunity to move in the right direction.
“Going into the tournament, we’re still a little rough,” said Tisdale. “We’re not exactly where I want us to be. As a team, we’re getting in shape.”
Other participating teams include Saint Jude, Southside and Sumter County.
