Clementina Shanks Dowling, 88, of Boiling Springs, SC, died Thursday, December 11, 2008. Born March 26, 1920, in Selma, AL, she was the daughter of the late Philip Thomas and Hattie Lamar Shanks and the wife of the late Marion Miller Dowling. A graduate of Converse College in Spartanburg, SC, Mrs. Dowling was a retired teacher and of the Presbyterian faith.
Survivors include a daughter, Martha Dowling of Spartanburg, SC; a son, Philip Dowling and his wife Donna of Houston, TX; and two grandsons, William Dowling and Timothy Dowling, both of McComb, MS. She was predeceased by a son, Marion Dowling, Jr.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
