Auburn’s list of potential coaching targets reportedly includes Mississippi coach Houston Nutt and Florida State offensive coordinator Jimbo Fisher.
The Birmingham News is reporting that those two are among the coaches Auburn officials are considering as potential replacements for Tommy Tuberville. Tuberville stepped down on Wednesday.
Nutt is in his first year with the Rebels after switching from another SEC West school at Arkansas.
The newspaper also said Auburn has interest in Texas defensive coordinator Will Muschamp. Muschamp and Fisher are both ex-Auburn assistants who have been anointed as successors to their current head coaches.
Other names mentioned include Louisiana Tech coach Derek Dooley and Texas Tech’s Mike Leach.
