The Selma Quarterback Club ends the year with former Auburn coach Terry Bowden on Monday at the Carl Morgan Convention Center.
“We’re looking forward to that,” said Selma Quarterback Club quarterback W. Forrest Hatfield. “We haven’t had him in a number of years.”
Getting Bowden is a coup for the club, but he is not the night’s only attraction. The club’s purpose comes to fruition as well with the awarding of four $4,000 scholarships and a $10,000 raffle.
“The big thing is awarding the scholarships,” said Hatfield. “This is what we’ve been working toward throughout the year.”
Several door prizes will also be given away to club members. Among them are a large barbecue grill, camouflage outfits, and automobile care packages ranging from an oil change to tire rotation.
Bowden is best known for his time at Auburn from 1993-98 where he compiled a 47-16-1 record. He remains the only coach in Division 1-A history to finish his first season with a perfect record.
