Selma Police Chief William T. Riley III said Wednesday two 20-year-old women were arrested in connection with taking a butterfly at the 400 block of Lauderdale Street.

Arrested were Jennifer Moore of Selma and Porsha Nix of Bessemer. Authorities said the women told them Moore just wanted the butterfly, so they took it.

The butterfly was broken into pieces and disposed of in Valley Grande, Riley said.
