The council rescheduled its regular Monday evening meeting to follow immediately after the certification.

Additionally, voters in Ward 4 selected a council member in a run-off election specific to that ward.
In the race for council president, Geraldine Allen defeated Selma businessman Gene Hisel, 2,245 votes to 1,993.
Allen is Ward 4 council representative. She will move to the president’s chair and Angela Benjamin will move into her first term as council member for Ward 4.
On Tuesday, Benjamin defeated Kelvin Williams 345 votes to 217 votes.
