Keith takes first loss

The Keith High Bears (6-1) lost their first game of the season 34-14 to St. Jude on Friday night.
D’wan Lewis scored two touchdowns, and Clyde Moise scored on 2-point conversions. Lewis scored on a double reverse in the first quarter, and Keith took the early lead with 5:50 remaining.
Neither offense could find a rhythm, and the score remained 6-0 at the end of the first half.
The Pirates opened the second half with an 80-yard drive that resulted in points. Chris Payton scored on a 37-yard run, and the score was knotted up at 6-6.
With 5:08 left in the third quarter, Lewis ran in for a 25-yard touchdown, and Moise capped off the drive with the 2-point conversion. Keith led 14-6 at that point.
St Jude rode the running and throwing of quarterback Ivey Moscatiello, who found Alphonso Lee and Derek Cook for 16-yard and 20-yard touchdowns, respectively.
On the first play of Keith’s next possession, quarterback Gerald Matthew threw an interception to George Price, who returned to the Pirates 40-yard line.
On third and 10, Moscatiello threw a 60-yard bomb to Rimmek Ford, and the homecoming celebration for St. Jude began. The Pirates scores 28 unanswered points after that point.
