The Selma and Dallas County Economic Development Authority will make an announcement at 2 p.m. today in the St. James Hotel ballroom about a new industry that will locate here.
“This will be another big day for Dallas County,” said EDA Executive Director Wayne Vardaman, who encouraged the public to attend the announcement. “We are appreciative of this company choosing to locate here as it will have a significant impact on the quality of life in Dallas County for years to come.”
While Vardaman is holding under wraps details about the company and the number of jobs it will bring to the area until Tuesday’s announcement, he said the company’s investment in Dallas County would be a “phased project” and that it would make a “significant capital investment” as it ramps up its production lines.
He said numerous public officials are scheduled to attend the announcement, but that it is important that it be open to residents of Dallas County, as they are stakeholders in the economic development of Selma and Dallas County and the Black Belt.
