Garvis Hill was a man who loved his Lord, his Church, his Country, his community, and most importantly his family. He absolutely loved working in his yard especially gardening and sharing his harvest with his family and friends from North Perry to Hale County. When asked about his honorable service for our country in WWII, he simply said with humility, “I peeled potatoes.” Mr. Hill loved to hunt deer and fish. He never met a stranger. He showed love and respect toward every person he met, and if you gave him long enough, he might find a way that the two of you were related. Many people will carry with them wonderful memories of Mr. Hill. His family lovingly said, “ He was a good man to an extent, after all he was a “Hill.”
