Gustav update
Published 10:46 am Sunday, August 31, 2008
BREEZY CONDITIONS ARE EXPECTED ON MONDAY AND TUESDAY. SOME TYPE OF
ADVISORY MAY BECOME NECESSARY DURING THIS TIME FRAME. HIGH PRESSURE
WILL BE LOCATED NORTHEAST OF THE AREA WHILE MAJOR HURRICANE GUSTAV
WILL BE POSITIONED TO OUR SOUTHWEST. THIS PRESSURE DIFFERENCE
ALONG WITH THE VERY STRONG WINDS CLOSE TO GUSTAV WILL PRODUCE BREEZY
CONDITIONS ACROSS CENTRAL ALABAMA. A FEW WIND GUSTS OF 30 TO 35 MPH
WILL BE POSSIBLE ESPECIALLY FOR FAR SOUTHWEST AREAS NEAR LIVINGSTON
AND DEMOPOLIS.
IN ADDITION…BANDING FEATURES FROM GUSTAV MAY ENTER SOUTHERN AREAS
AS EARLY AS MONDAY MORNING…WITH THE POTENTIAL FOR THESE OUTER BANDS
ROTATING ACROSS THE AREA THROUGH TUESDAY. THESE BANDS WILL CONTAIN
SOME THREAT OF ISOLATED TORNADOES AND ENHANCED WIND GUSTS.
