Willie Mae Carter Chance, age 81, a resident of Valley Grande, AL, passed away August 22, 2008.
She was preceded in death by her husbands, Malcolm Daniel Carter and Floyd Chance and a brother, Henry Longcrier.
Surviving are her sons, Daniel Clyde (Fern) Carter of Hendersonville, NC and Michael Winston (Judith) Carter of Birmingham, AL; step-son, Mike Chance of Selma, AL; daughters, Carolyn (Lloyd) Stockman of Valley Grande, AL, Maudis (Ronald) Jowers of Prattville, AL; and Patsy (Curtis) McClain of St. Louis, MO; brother, Nelson Longcrier of Millbrook, AL; sister, Ethel Moore of Billingsley, AL; grandchildren, Pam Stockman Williams, Jeff Stockman, Amy Stockman Stewart, Phillip Jowers, Barry Jowers, Seth Carter, Sarah Carter, Beth McClain Porch and Meredith McClain; seven great-grandchildren and a special friend, Ray Weeden.
Funeral services will be Monday, August 25, 2008, at 2:00 p.m. at Selma Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Curtis McClain and Dr. Kenny Hatcher officiating. Interment will be in Pineview Memory Garden with Selma Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 12:30-2:00 p.m.
Pallbearers will be Jeff Stockman, Phillip Jowers, Barry Jowers, Seth Carter, Matt Stewart, Josh Porch and Jacob Williams.
Mrs. Chance was a very devoted and caring child of God, one who served Him daily in word and deed. She especially enjoyed cooking for others, sharing many wonderful meals with family and friends. Her godly influence will long be remembered and cherished by all who knew her.
