A political forum sponsored by the Selma and Dallas County Chamber of Commerce is on tap for 5:30 p.m. Thursday at the Striplin Performing Arts Centre, 1000 Selma Avenue.
Jeff Sanders, an anchor at WAKA in Montgomery, will be the moderator for this event.
The chamber has always maintained a neutral political position since its beginning 155 years ago, but have tried to provide its members and the public with facts and information, said Lauri Cothran, president of the organization.
“The candidates forum will be another example of this mission,” she said.
Candidates will be grouped by office for which he or she seeks.
Each candidate will have three minutes to talk freely. After that segment, Sanders will each ask candidate a prepared question. Each category of candidates will receive three minutes to answer the questions. This process will be repeated.
No questions will be received from the audience to keep it within the two-hour time limit, Cothran said.
“This forum, held at the Performing Arts Centre, will offer the citizens of
Selma the opportunity to come together to hear from the future leaders of
our city,” Cothran said.
