A low pressure area has formed in the northern Gulf of Mexico and forecasters say it could develop into a tropical depression.
The National Hurricane Center says residents in the northwestern Gulf should monitor the system. It is centered about 150 miles south of Pensacola and moving west.
Senior hurricane specialist Jack Beven says a hurricane hunter aircraft will investigate the system Sunday afternoon. He says conditions are marginally favorable for additional development.
