Arthur Ernest Smith III, age 55, died Thursday July 10, 2008 at a local hospital. Graveside services will be held Sunday July 13, 2008 at 2:00 p.m., at New Live Oak Cemetery with Rev. Betty Pardue officiating and Lawrence Brown-Service Funeral Home directing. Mr. Smith is survived by his wife, Donna Smith; daughter, Brandy Bowling (Michael); two stepchildren, Penny Griffin (Reggie), and Jimmy Griffin (Jessica); sister, Rosemary McCarthy (Mac) of Deatsville; grandchildren, Elyssa Bowling, and Jimmy Griffin III, as well as numerous nieces and a nephew.

Pallbearers will be James &8220;Fletch&8221; Malone, Rick Rushing, Luther Smith, Junior Kirkland, David Patrick and Gary Russell. Ed Lee Johnson, 81, a resident of New York City, native of Plantersville, died on Saturday, July 5, 2008, in New York City.

Services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 13, 2008, at Grove Hill AME Church, Planterville, AL with the Pastor Carlos Jones officiating.

Burial will follow under the direction of Earnest Johnson Funeral Home and Miller Funeral Home. He was the first of 11 children born to Warren Johnson and Emma Turner Johnson in Brent, Alabama. Ed Lee leaves behind to mourn his passing his wife of 57 years, Ethel, four daughters, Ulean, Mary Ann, Betty Jean and Ernestine; one son Ed Lee, Jr. (deceased); three brothers, Tommy, Morris, and Lonnie; three sisters, Pearlie Mae, Edna and Susie, 11 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

Marlene Queen Smith, 68, of Shalimar, Florida, entered Glory on Thursday, July 10, 2008. Marlene was born to Madge Westall Queen and Lafayette (Fate) Queen in Little Switzerland, North Carolina on September 13, 1939 and moved to Chicago, Illinois as a young girl. Following college, Marlene moved to Selma, Alabama and taught elementary education in the Prattville schools until her retirement when she moved to Gulf Shores, Alabama and then to Shalimar.

Marlene leaves behind her sister, Faye Bartlett; her brother and sister-in-law, James and Karen Queen; her nieces, Mona Williams, Robin and Kristen Queen; and her nephews, Rob Dickson and Timothy and Ben Queen. Preceding her in death is her husband, Doug Smith of Prattville; and her brother, Kent Queen of Selma, AL.

A memorial service celebrating Marlene&8217;s life will be held at 6:30 p.m. on Sunday, July 13, 2008 at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 1 Meigs Dr., Shalimar, Florida. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that contributions be made to Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 1 Meigs Dr., Shalimar, FL, 32579 or to Covenant Hospice, 101 Hart Street, Niceville, FL, 32578, in Marlene&8217;s memory.

Miss Martha Ishman, age 37 of the Dollarhide Community, Boligee, Alabama passed July 7, 2008 in Tuscaloosa, Alabama.
