Charles Jones, 57, a resident of Plantersville, died on Monday, July 7, 2008, at Vaughan Regional Medical Center.

Services are scheduled for 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 12, 2008, at the Elyton Missionary Baptist Church, Planterville, AL. with the Rev. J.R. Curry officiating. Burial will follow in the

Elyton Missionary Baptist Church cemetery under the direction of Earnest Johnson Funeral Home and Miller Funeral Home.

Deacon Jones was Chairman of the Deacon Board, a member of the Elyton Sr. Choir, Burnsville Male Chorus and the Elyton Male Chorus.

He was preceded in death by his father, Charlie Jones.

Survivors include his mother, Pearlie Jones; his wife Rubbie Jones; six children, Subrena (Donovan) Cox of Millbrook, Lonzia (Stephanie) Mixon, of Tuscaloosa, Kenneth Williams of Livingston, Montina Mixon, Dineake Mixon and Couvoisier Jones all of Plantersville; seven grandchildren, Alavajh Roberts, Mekhi Brown, Courtney Cox, Kenkorian Williams, Darius Mixon, Mia Mixon and Kristin Cox; twelve brothers and sisters, Robert Godwin, Ruby Fisher of Cleveland, OH, Edward (Angie) Jones of Jones, AL, Quinnin Jones of Selma, Barbara Jones, Gladys Jones, James (Sandra) Jones, Glenda Jones, Christopher Jones, Lindsey (Valeria) Jones, Shelia (Stanley) McCary, all of Plantersville, and Oralee Wright of Waynesboro, MS.; one nephew that he cared for as one of his children, Artez Jones of Marion Junction; Aunt and Uncle Clarence (Anitra) Godwin of Jones, and Louise Dejarnette of Clanton, Willard Jones, Johnny Jones, S.B. Jones all of Vinegabend. AL., a host of nieces, nephew, cousins and friends.

Visitation is 4pm-9pm, Friday July 11, 2008 at Millers Funeral Home.

Mattie Lee Courtland, 76, of Selma, Alabama died June 30, 2008 in Wayne, Michigan.

Services are scheduled for Saturday, July 12, 2008 at 12:00 noon at John The Baptist Church officiated by Curtis Williams. Burial in Fair Lawn cemetery under the direction of Miller Funeral Service.

Survivors include eight sons, Cournelious, Lattie D., Lorenzo, John, Sylvester, Nathaniel, Samuel, and Alvin; five daughters, Geneva, Mattie, Emma, Reneva, and Carolyn; two brothers, Johnny Waller and Jesse Waller, both of Orrville, Alabama; twenty-six grandchildren; fourteen great grandchildren; three sons-in-law; and four daughters-

in-law.

Pallbearers will include her sons.

Ed Lee Johnson, 81, a resident of New York City, native of Plantersville, died on Saturday, July 5, 2008, in New York City.

Services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 13, 2008, at Grove Hill AME Church, Planterville, AL. with the Visiting Pastor Carlos Jones officiating. Burial will follow under the direction of Earnest Johnson Funeral Home and Miller Funeral Home.

Visitation is 12noon-9pm, Friday July 11, 2008 at Millers Funeral Home.

Letitia Oliver, 45, of Minter, AL died Tuesday, July 1, 2008 at UAB Hospital.

Services are scheduled for Sat. July 12, 2008 at 1:00pm at New Generation Christian Center officiated by Rev. James Price. Burial will follow in Friendship Church Cemetery under the direction of Miller Funeral Service.

Survivors include husband, James Moore; mother, Rosa Lee Price; grandmother, Alice Oliver; three daughters, Tonreak Oliver, Niesha Oliver, and Kerneshia Oliver; two brothers, Rev. Arthur Lee (Gwendolyn) Price, and Clarence Price; two sisters, Melissa Price Miller, Lenora Price Green (Vincent); and a host of nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Helen Ray Williams, 88, resident of Selma, passed July 8, 2008 at a local hospital.

Funeral services are scheduled for Saturday July 12, 2008 at 1: pm from West Trinity

Baptist Church with Dr. C.A. Lett officiating. Burial will follow in Fairlawn Memory Garden with J. H. Williams & Sons Funeral Home officiating.

Mrs. Williams was born Aug. 3, 1919 in Talladega County to the late Eli Ray and Mary McGregor Ray Johnson.

At an early age she confessed Christ and joined the Mt. Canaan Bapt Church in Talladega. She later moved to Selma and united with the West Trinity Bapt. Church. She was dedicated to her church and her church family. She served as First Lady of the Church, Sunday School teacher, member of the Missionary Society and the was a Senior Choir soloist. She was also a member of Elizabeth Chapter Number 447 Order of Eastern Star.

She was educated in the Talladega City School System and was a graduate of Selma University. She worked as a substitute teacher in the Selma City School System.

Helen united in holy matrimony to Rev. Aquilla A. Williams. Their marriage has spanned over a period of more than sixty years. She was a dedicated wife, sister, cousin, aunt and compassionate friend.

Mrs. Williams leaves to cherish her memories a devoted husband, Rev. Aquilla A. Williams; three sisters, Ruth McElwaine of Washington, D.C., Effie Moore of Talladega,

AL, and Lillian J. Fomby of Anniston, AL; one brother, Louis (Juanita) Fomby, Jr. of Columbus, OH; a very special cousin Bettye Kirksey Love of Talladega, AL and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Mrs. Ann Sturdivant Voltz died on Saturday, July 5, 2008 at Vaughan Regional Hospital. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, July 12, 2008 at 1:00 PM at Miller Funeral

Home Chapel.

She is survived by seven children, Carol Hatcher, Cassandra Dickerson, George (Ann) Sturdivant, Bobby (Bonnie) Allen, Willie Ben (Keyonwanis) Allen, all of Cleveland, OH, Geraldine (Gregory) Johnson, Rickey (Ola) Sturdivant, all of Selma, AL; two sisters; three brothers; twenty-two grandchildren; five great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.

Lola Mae Evans, 103, of Dallas County died Wednesday, July 2, 2008, at Vaughan Regional Medical Center.

Services are scheduled for 12 Noon, Saturday, July 12 at Mt. Ararat Baptist Church with the Elder John Dean officiating. Burial will follow in Elmwood Cemetery under the direction of Lewis Brothers Funeral Home.

She was preceded in death by daughter, Josie Bell Jackson.

Survivors include

daughter, Bertha M. Olds of Youngstown, Ohio; fourteen grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren; ten great-great grandchildren; ten great-great-great grandchildren; four nieces; two nephews; and a host of cousins and friends.

Pall bearers will be neighbors and nephews.

Ms. Dorothy Jackson, 76, of Selma, AL died July 5, 2008 at her residence.

Services are scheduled for Sat. July 12, 2008 at 1:00pm at Plant Street Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Town Creek Cemetery in Tyler, AL.

Survivors include two sons, Albert (Camilla) Jackson and McArthur (Eloise) Jackson; seven grandchildren; six great grandchildren; a host of nieces and nephews; and one devoted niece Gurther Dean Williams.

Rose A. Lewis, 72, of Orrville, AL died July 4, 2008 at Vaughan Regional Hospital. Services are scheduled for Saturday, July 12, 2008 at 2:00pm at First Baptist Church officiated by Rev. Dwight Woods. Burial will follow at the church under the direction of Miller Funeral Service.

Survivors include three sons, Robert Lewis, Gus Lewis, and Jessie Lewis; six daughters, Lucy Lewis, Susie Lewis, Gloria Lewis, Barbara Lewis, Charlene Lewis, and Alice

Jones; one brother, R. T; four sisters, Sally Starks, Gertrude Lewis, Ida Mae Lewis, and Louis Lewis; twenty grandchildren; twenty-eight great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
