On Saturday, the futures of the Selma Dixie Majors and Pre Majors baseball teams were dismal. After Sunday, glancing at them required sunglasses.
The Dixie Majors overcame a Friday loss to win the District IV tournament by taking games two and three from Prattville.
The Pre Majors fell to Wetumpka in the second-game of a round-robin tournament early Saturday afternoon. Prattville knocked off Wetumpka in the nightcap to force an unusual situation Sunday.
The three one-loss teams drew for a bye. Wetumpka drew it, and Selma had to play two to win the tournament. Selma won both games in dominant fashion.
The wins propelled Selma’s Dixie baseball program into uncharted waters. All four of Selma’s Dixie-affiliated team &045; Dixie Majors, Dixie Pre Majors, Dixie Boys and Dixie Junior Boys &045; will take part in sub-state tournaments.
