No more digging, &8220;The Hunt&8221; is over.
The $1,000 treasure in the Times-Journal&8217;s scavenger hunt has been found. It took Kate Cothran 35 minutes to find it on Sunday morning. With the help of her parents and a close friend, Cothran deciphered Sunday&8217;s clue to find the hidden treasure chest buried off of County Road 835 along Mulberry Creek.
The contest has been ongoing since June 1. Several people have followed clues found at the stores of participating merchants and in the Times-Journal.
Cothran said she passed several people on her way to the site. Shovels dug many holes, but tree roots were the only thing they hit.
This was Cothran&8217;s first time participating in the The Hunt. She didn&8217;t expect to find the treasure. The search has been fun a fun experience for her and she plans to participate again.
The 21-year-old plans to split the money with her mother and friend. Some of the booty will end up in Tallahassee, Fla., as Cothan is headed to the beach.
