Shana Cole loved the Alabama River.
Friends could not believe Sunday that the river she loved so dearly claimed the 41-year-old tugboat captain’s life.
Cole&8217;s passion for the river went beyond recreational purposes. It actually became part of her job for some time.
She worked as a tugboat captain after Hurricane Katrina.
People say Cole was a fixture on the river. Her Tanglewood Rive home sat near the water right at Little Miami, where rescue workers tried to resuscitate her Sunday afternoon.
Even as a child, Cole spent a lot of times on the banks of the river near little Miami with her father, Billy Busby, and family. The water seemed to energize Cole.
Many will miss her.
