Ryan Deavers caught a 48-pound, 2-ounce Asian carp on Sunday, June 15 at Jones Bluff between Montgomery and Selma.

“It took us about an hour to reel him in,” said Deavers.

Surprisingly, larger carp have been caught at Jones Bluff in recent weeks. According to Deavers’s father, Robert, Selma resident Steve Craig recently caught one that weighed 60 pounds.

“That’s not the biggest one out there,” said Robert Deavers. “There are some bigger than that.”
