If you grew up loving rock and roll or soul, then you had better pause a minute in silence to respect the poppa of the movement &8212; Bo Diddley.
Known for his square guitar and moves stolen by folks like James Brown, Bo Diddley died Monday.
He was born Elias Otha Bates in McComb, Miss.
From The Supremes to David Bowie to The White Stripes to The Police and Johnny Lee Hooker,
all took a little piece of that Diddley beat:
Three strokes.
Two strokes.
Rest in peace.
