The construction of a $2 million juvenile detention facility in Dallas County marks the attention of those of us living here simply because it will save our hard-earned taxpayers dollars.

The Dallas County Commission, Probate Judge Kim Ballard, Sheriff Harris Huffman and Judge Bob Armstrong receive high marks for working together for the good of all residents of the county in seeing this project to fruition.

Contractors expect to complete the facility by June. It should open in July. The county will begin saving money almost immediately by cutting out the wear and tear on vehicle used for transporting youths to other facilities in the state. Additionally, the county will make money by housing youths from other counties.
