Somewhere in Monday’s game between Pediatric Shortcakes and Taylor Internal Medicine, it became pretty evident that scoring runs wasn’t going to be a problem.

A back-and-forth game came down to Jamya Wallace’s at-bat. She delivered a three-run home run in the bottom of the fifth and gave Taylor Medicine a 16-14 win.

In one of the most solidly hit balls all afternoon, Wallace laced a pitch down the left field line that also scored Calandra Morrow and Kiyana Walker.

Jatari Reddick Hardy came all the way around the bases in the sixth for Pediatric Shortcakes’ only run of the inning, but the rally fell short when three of the next four batters were retired.

Pediatric had a strong start in the first inning when seven of the first eight batters scored runs. Morgan Krumnow and Hardy both had RBIs in the frame. Shaye Dailey, Ashley Horton, Haisia Perry and Hardy drove in runs in the third.

Taylor Medicine got four runs back in the bottom of the first, three on a hit by Morrow. Three more runs scored in the second and two more in the third. Alecia McConico and Kayla Page each drove one in the fourth, and Lakira Fails added two more on a ground out to first base.
