The Turner Motors team made sure Steve Lane’s Truck & Auto Sales wasn’t going to have a breezy win Tuesday night.

Despite a rocky final inning, Dalton Lee, with some fielding help from Kelsey Trippe, finished on the mound to help beat Turner Motors 8-6 in 11-12 Dixie Youth baseball.

Ahead by four entering the sixth, Lee allowed two runs – one on a wild pitch – and walked the bases loaded at one point. He settled in with runners on before throwing his last pitch.

That’s when Trippe came running in full speed from deep right field and made a basket catch to end the ball game.

Steve Lane’s starter Chris Raymond pitched the first five innings and gave up four runs, all in the fifth.

Steve Lane’s scored four runs in the third to get ahead 6-0. Cyron Ellis walked with the bases loaded to force in a run, and then Harrison Watters scored from third on an errant throw from the catcher to the pitcher. Lee drove in two on a double to left field that fell just inside the line.

Woodrow Watts and Ricky Austin had RBI singles for Turner Motors in the fifth. Mark Garrett also drove in one on a groundout to shortstop.
