At least one team thinks the extra innings were worth it.

Healthmark held on through eight innings to secure a 9-7 comeback win over Moore-Stewart Ford in Dixie Boys baseball Saturday.

Devontae Cleveland took an intentional walk to lead off the seventh with Healthmark fans on the bleachers yelling, “Make ’em pay.”

Cleveland stole second. Then he stole third. On a soft bunt by Michael Moore Jr. with one out, Cleveland juked out of a rundown, hopped over the catcher’s leg and touched down to tie the game at 7.

With runners on second and third and two out in the bottom of the inning, shortstop Quintravis Johnson fielded a high chopper by Leterrance Wright and threw him out by less than a step at first base.

The first three batters in Healthmark’s half of the eighth reached on walks. Jeffery Mack drove in two on a single, giving his team a chance to win the game.

The game ended when Moore-Stewart’s Greg Page got caught in a rundown between third and home.
