Now that they&8217;re all moved in, they&8217;ve taken time out to formally meet the community.
Residents of Dallas and Perry counties turned out for an open house at Marion Bank & Trust Co. on Sunday. The bank, located on Hwy. 80 W., has been in operation for about three months.
Bank president Forrest Hatfield called the turnout &8220;outstanding.&8221;
Officials from the city, county and Marion attended the event and were pleased with what they saw.
Marion Mayor Anthony J. Long said he thoroughly enjoyed the event, and complimented the bank&8217;s staff, calling them &8220;a good group of people.&8221;
Hatfield said the main office is in Marion, and Selma is the only branch. Construction, plumbing and electrical work was all done by local contractors.
Names were drawn for door prizes, which ranged from gift baskets to $100 savings bonds. All who attended received a crisp $1 bill as a token of thanks.
Nan Barronton of Valley Grande said the establishment was a &8220;good asset for the community.&8221;
