Mr. James W. Foster, Jr.

Mr. James W. Foster, Jr., 77, died Friday, March 14, 2008. Mr. Foster was born September 16, 1930 in Selma, Alabama to James Foster and Marie Priscilla Foster.

Mr. Foster leaves to cherish his memories a loving daughter, Teresa Foster; sister, rose Marie Davis of Salt Lake City, Utah; brother, James (Belle) Foster of Selma, Alabama; three grandsons, Jermaine Foster, Christopher Foster, Sr. and Donell Foster, Sr.; four great-grandchildren, Donell Foster, Jr.,

Christopher Foster, Jr., Isaiah Foster, and Elijah Foster, all of Indianapolis, Indiana; Two nieces, Mattie Thornton of Buffalo, New York and Monique (Nicky) Vos of Salt Lake, Utah; two nephews, Troy Davis and Gregory Manuel, both of Salt Lake City, Utah; cousins, Sharon Jackson, Jawana Jackson of Atlanta, Georgia, Ernestine Greene of Phoenix, Arizona and Thedrika Sawyers of Oakland, California; Mamie Mitchell, Compton, California; a host of other relatives and friends.

John Thomas &8220;J.T.&8221; Chandler

John Thomas &8220;J.T.&8221; Chandler, Jr., age 72, of Plantersville passed away April 7, 2008. He was preceded in death by his grandson, John Thomas Chandler IV.

Surviving are his wife, Martha Chandler; sons, Joe (Margaret) Chandler, James Chandler and John Thomas Chandler, III; daughter, Dianne (Randle) Hindman; brother, Fred (Joyce) Chandler; sister, Dorothy Terrell; grandchildren, Lamar (Wendy Burton, Randy (Susan) Burton, Michelle Burton, Jeremy Chandler, Dale Chandler, Ashley (Rudy) Chandler, Jocqueline Poyner and Shirley Poyner and great grandchildren, Chelsey Abbott, Caitlin Burton, Tyler Batten, Dakota Chandler, Christopher Chandler, Jaci Hill, Hannah Hill, Erica Poyner and Travis Poyner and Cullen Poyner and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be Thursday, April 10, 2008, at 11:00 a.m. at Selma Funeral Home with Rev. Ken Scott officiating.

Interment will be in Pilgrim Rest Cemetery in Maplesville, AL with Selma Funeral Home directing.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home, Wednesday, April 9, 2008 from 6-8:00 p.m. Pallbearers will be the City of Selma Fire Department. J.T. served 27 years as a firefighter with the Selma Fire Department.

Mrs. Eddie Wilson

Mrs. Eddie Wilson, 81, of Sardis, Alabama died April 8, 2008 at Vaughan Regional Hospital. Final arrangements will be announced at a later date by Miller Funeral Services, Inc.

Whitley, Grace Estelle (Parker)

Whitley, Grace Estelle (Parker) died Monday, April 7, 2008. Born in 1909 in Thomaston was the widow of Sidney Gerald Whitley.

She lived in Thomaston for most of her life with a short residence in Sweetwater. Mrs Whitley taught in Marengo County over many decades.

Mrs Whitley was preceded in death by her parents, James Edward and Mary Eula (Crocker) Parker. Also preceding her were her brothers and sisters, Myrtis Annie Handley, Floyd Eugene Parker, Houston Parker, James Alton Parker, Juliette Alline Sykes, Roy Edward Parker and a niece Jane Winn.

She is survived by a sister-in-law Hollie Parker of Birmingham and a brother-in-law Lorenzo Whitley of Thomasville. Survivors also include nieces and nephews Eddie Parker, Dallas Texas, Mary Jo Jones (Bobby) Pass Christian, Miss., Jim Parker (Nancy ) Wetumpka, Parker Sykes (Pat) Carmel, Indiana, James Whitley, Meridian, Judy Mulvaney Birmingham, and Jerry Tibbett (Martha), Pelham. There are a 17 great-nieces and nephews and many great-great-nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Whitley had no children of her own but her love and nourishment of her nieces and nephews of all generations and hundreds of school children have left a lasting legacy.

She was a loyal and faithful member of Thomaston Baptist Church as well as attending the Methodist church with her late husband.

Visitation will be at Noon Thursday April 10, 2008 at the Thomaston Baptist Church. Services will be at 1 P.M. with burial following at Thomaston Cemetery. In lieu of flowers gifts to the Thomaston Baptist and Methodist Churches are requested.
