Bowie announces candidacy for the Selma City Council Ward 8

Corey D. Bowie has announced his candidacy for the Selma City Council Ward 8 seat.
The candidate says he aims to empower the constituents of the ward through educational support, combating crime, recreational programs for the youth and elderly and the soliciting funds to revitalize homes. He said he wants to help reshape the image of the council and move the city forward.
Quoting Henry Ford, Bowie said, “Coming together is a beginning, keeping together is progress and working together is success. ”
Bowie has resided in Ward 8 for over 25 years.
He is involved in multiple civic organizations. Bowie is the district deputy of the Knights of Columbus which serves Montgomery, Prattville, Millbrook, Selma and Demopolis; chairman of the Selma Youth Development Center, board member of the Democracy Project, participant in the Team Mentor Program, and board member of the Selma-Dallas County Vision 20/25 Partnership.
He attended Auburn University Montgomery and Troy University.
He is employed at Wallace Community College as the educational talent search recruiter adult education advisor and retention advisor.
He is a member of Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church. Bowie attended Auburn University Montgomery and Troy University.
He is unmarried and has no children.
This is Bowie&8217;s second attempt at the seat.
