Sewell announces candidacy for city council Ward 7 seat

Lola Sewell announced her candidacy as a city council representative for Ward 7.
Sewell is a Selma native and has lived in Ward 7 for more than 20 years.
Sewell’s platform is “We must have change in Selma.” Sewell is a member of Green Street Baptist Church, and works with the County Engineering Department as a data entry clerk.
Sewell graduated from Selma High School and attended Selma University and Trenholm Tech. Sewell received a degree in nursing from Trenholm Tech.
Sewell is a member of the Selma Exchange Club and one of the co-sponsors for Help a Child Smile, a program that gives children ages 6-18 exposure to arts and crafts, drama and poetry.
After being faced with various problems in the community, Sewell said she wants to take a proactive role in getting things done.
Her goal for the city is for Selma to be a city of love and compassion, where people in the community are involved.
Sewell will be running against incumbent Bennie Ruth Crenshaw.
