Leashore announces candidacy for city council Ward 6

Johnnie M. Leashore has announced his candidacy for the Selma City Council Ward 6 seat.
Leashore, 59, is seeking a second term. The incumbent was first elected to the council in 2004. He has lived in Ward 6 for 30 years.
His plans are to continue with the forward movement of the city with industry recruitment, job training opportunities, improving the appearance of area neighborhoods and combating drugs in his ward.
Leashore is a graduate of Saint Jude Catholic School in Montgomery.
He received a Bachelor of Science from Jackson State University in Jackson, Miss., and is a veteran of the United States Air Force, where he achieved the rank of sergeant during his four years of active duty.
Leashore is currently employed as a financial support supervisor with the Alabama Department of Human Resources in Dallas County.
He is a member of Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church.
Leashore is married to Phillis H. and is the father of five children.
Bennie Lee Tucker has also announced his candidacy for the Ward 6 seat.
