William Pyrle Boggs

William Pyrle &8220;Bill&8221; Boggs, 83, of Clanton died Tuesday, March 25, 2008 in Clanton.

He was born on Tuesday, November 11, 1924 in Dallas County, Alabama, Son of the late Walter Roscoe Boggs and the late Everee Alberta Breland Boggs.

He was a Veteran of World War II.

He graduated from the University of Alabama and he was a member of Chi Phi Fraternity. He was an attorney in Clanton, AL for 32 years.

Surviving are his Wife, Doris Pitts Boggs of Clanton, AL; two sons, William Mark (Carolyn) Boggs of Dothan, AL, Roderick Pitts (Melanie) Boggs of Clanton, AL; Granddaughter, Wesli Holt Boggs; three grandsons, William Zachary Boggs, Roderick Tyler Boggs, Jonathan Blake Boggs; brother, Glen Donald (Alfonza) Boggs of San Antonio, TX; sister, Hazel Boggs (James) Williams of Selma, AL; twelve nephews and four nieces.

He was preceded in death by a niece. Friends will be received from 5-8, Thursday, March 27, 2008, at Martin Funeral Home.

Services will be held Friday, March 28, 2008, at 1:00 pm at graveside.

Interment will follow in New Live Oak Cemetery, Selma, Alabama, under the direction of Martin Funeral Home.,

William Wilkerson

William Wilkerson, 59, of Selma, died on Saturday, March 22, 2008 in New Orleans, LA. Services are scheduled for 10 a.m. at Miller Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Clarance McElroy officiating. Burial will follow in the Christian Light cemetery, Safford, AL. under the direction of Miller Funeral Service.

Ann Goings Moore

Ann Goings Moore, 41, of Selma, died on Wednesday, March 26, 2008 at her home.

Funeral arrangements will be announced at a later time by Lawrence Funeral Home.

Earnestine Rose

Earnestine Rose, 75, of Selma, died on Monday, March 24, 2008 at Lighthouse Rehab. and Convalensces.

Services

are scheduled for 2 p.m., Saturday, March 29, 2008 at Beach Island Baptist with the Bishop Willie Nelson Stew officiating.

Burial will follow in Everdale Baptist Church cemetery under the direction of Miller Funeral Service.

Survivors include one sister, Lucy Hill; three sisters-in-laws and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.

Pallbearers will be Nephews, Leon Stewart Jr., David Steele, Charles Steele, Joseph Steele, Emmanuel Steel and Roosevelt Martin.

Hattie Abercrombie

Hattie Abercrombie, of Stanton, AL, died on Tuesday, March 25, 2008 at her home.

Funeral arrangements will be announced at a later time by Lawrence Funeral Home.

Pauline Snead Dukes

Pauline Snead Dukes, 45, of Centerville, died on Monday, March 17, 2008 at Bibb County Medical Center.

Services are scheduled for 1 p.m. at Pine Grove Baptist with the Rev. James C. Moore officiating.

Burial will follow in the Hopewell cemetery under the direction of Miller Funeral Service.

Survivors include her mother, Eula Mae Snead; two brothers, Leon Snead and Leroy Snead; seven sisters, Denicia (Bonnie), Eddie Mae (David), Rosalyn (James), Lena Mae Snead, Gloria )Nathan) Snead, Maulin Chism and Queen Ester Crawford; eleven nieces and ten nephews; a special friend, James Harris.

Pallbearers will be family and friends.

Lucille Tolbert

Lucille Tolbert, 73, of Selma, died on Wednesday, March 19, 2008 at Vaughan Regional Medical Center, Selma.

Services are scheduled for 11 a.m., Saturday, March 29, 2008 at Selma Ave. Church of Christ with Pastor Joseph Davis officiating.

Burial will follow in Elmwood cemetery under the direction of Miller Funeral Service.

Parents are Wattie and Carrie Smiley.

Survivors include two sons, Willie James (Felicia) Tolbert of Atlanta, GA, Edwin Tolbert of Selma, four daughters, Barbara (Charles) Travis of Selma, Merline (Ron) Mitchell of New Jersey, Sharon Smiley, Sonja (Phillip) Green of Selma; two brothers, Leonard Smiley of Harrisburg, PA, Howard (Nioma) Smiley of Selma; six sisters, Willie P King, Hattie Cherry, Deloris Goldsby, Elois Reeves of Selma, Juanita Stafford of Tallahassee, FL, Doris (Leroy) Spencer of Chicago, IL; thirteen grandchildren, eight great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Marion Barr Jackson Lee

Marion Barr Jackson Lee died peacefully following a lengthy illness March 24, 2008 in her Selma home surrounded by family.

Visitation was held on Wednesday March 26 from 6:00 until 7:30 p.m. in the Lower Hall of St. Pauls&8217;s Episcopal Church.

Memorial Service will be held at St. Pauls&8217;s Episcopal Church on Thursday March 27 at 10:00 am.

Marion &8220;Tootsie&8221; Lee was the widow of

William Byrd Lee III, daughter of the late Marion Ammie &8220;Mallie&8221; Barr Carter, stepdaughter of George Ellis Carter and daughter of Benjamin Clements Jackson.

Tootsie is survived by her three children,

Ammie Barr Lee (Howard) Jordan of Charlotte NC, William Byrd (Carolyn) Lee IV, of Augusta, GA, and Marion Seddon Lee (David) Frasier of Selma AL and her twelve grandchildren, Mary Alexander Lee (Robert) Beachum, James Carlos &8220;Chuck&8221; Smith III, William McDowell &8220;Mac&8221; Frasier, Mathew Scott Smith, Katherine Elaine Lee, Carter Hunt Frasier, Carolyn Ann Lee, Marion Ammie &8220;Mallie&8221; Frasier, William Byrd Lee V, Howard Scott Jordan II, James Edward Jordan and Kevin Andrew Jordan and her great granddaughter Charlotte Elaine Beachum, as well as much loved cousins, nieces and nephews.

Her loving and ever faithful friends and caregivers, Annie Nora Washington, Wornzie Shannon, Geraldine Adams, and Vanessa Woods also survive Mrs. Lee.

Honorary pallbearers are her eight grandsons.

Tootsie was born in Marengo County Alabama March 26, 1925.

She grew up in Nanafalia, AL and Selma, AL where she graduated from A.G. Parrish High School.

Tootsie attended Auburn University.

She was married at St. Pauls Episcopal Church Selma where she enjoyed serving on the Alter Guild and Flower Guilds throughout the years.

She served her community through the Selma Charity League and was a member of Selma Country Club. While with The Equitable Life Assurance Society she and Byrd lived in Birmingham, Selma,

Anniston, Mobile, Charleston, WVA, Tampa/St. Petersburg, FL, Macon, GA. She delighted in entertaining whether for family, friends, former classmates or business associates.

Tootsie is best remembered for her delightful and quick sense of humor and love of laughter. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be given to Cahaba Hospice Inc. 410 Church Street, Selma, AL 36701 or St. Pauls Episcopal

Mary E. Jackson

Mary E. Jackson, 50, of Dallas Co., died on Sunday, March 23, 2008 at UAB.

Services are scheduled for Sat March 29, 2008 at 1:00 p.m. at Calvary Missionary Baptist Church with Apostle H.T. Haines officiating. Burial will follow in the Dock Henry Cemetery, under the direction of Miller Funeral Services.

Survivors include spouse, Beonzo Jackson Jr., parents Lula Mae Rivers and Willie James Muse; two sons

Frederick D. Simmons of Selma; Timothy D. Simmons of

Birmingham; one daughter Valerie D. Simmons of Huntsville; eleven brothers, Isiah (Lola) Simmons, Alonzo (Avis) Rivers, Eric Rivers, Eugene (Gussie) Scott, Onis (Earnestine) Scott, Roosevelt (Barbara) Muse, Willie(Bonnie) Muse; five sisters, Trace (Darrie) Lumpkin, Kim Rivers, Gloria Clark, Sandra Scott, and Cora (Charlie) Sanders; four grandchildren, two sons-in-law, six brothers-in-law; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Pallbearers will be Sherman Parker, Allen Grayson, Robbyn Johnson, Cedric Simmons, Willie Simmons Jr., Tyrone Dragg, and Earnest Old.

Mary Walker, of Selma, died on Wednesday, March 26, 2008 at a local hospital.
