Dean Walker Graves
Dean Walker Graves, age 66, passed away at Lambeth House on Monday, March 10, 2008 after a nine month battle with cancer.
She recently moved to New Orleans from Hendersonville, Tennessee, to be closer to her grandchildren.
Dean was a devoted wife, sister, mother and grandmother whose family was the center of her world. Her strength, grace and courage throughout her life inspired her family and friends.
She is survived by her sister, Allie Francis Cooke, of Birmingham, Alabama, whose extraordinary caregiving throughout her illness was a model of love and compassion, her niece Angela Cooke and nephew Chad Cooke of Birmingham, Alabama, her brother Timothy Walker and sister-in-law Erma Walker of Houston, Texas, her son Kirk Walker Graves of Hendersonville, Tennessee, her daughter Lori Graves Gordillo and son-in-law Phillip Edward Gordillo of New Orleans, as well as her two beloved grandchildren, Edward Walker Gordillo and Anna Grave Gordillo. Being their &8220;Gigi&8221; was the greatest joy of her life.
She was preceded in death by her husband Houston Brannoc Graves, Jr. and her parents Mr. and Mrs. William Raymond Walker.
Visitation will take place on Wednesday, March 12, 2008 at 10:00 a.m. in the Chapel of Trinity Episcopal Church, 1329 Jackson Avenue, with funeral serv-ices following at 11:00 a.m. Graveside service will be Saturday, March 15, 2008 at the Milton Baptist Church Cemetery in her home town of Jones, Alabama with Lawrence Funeral Home directing. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to Metairie Park Country Day School, 300 Park Road, Metairie, Louisiana 70005 for the benefit of the Edisen House Playground Project. May her memory and spirit live on through the laughter of little children.

Laura Gertrude Hannon Carter, age 88 of Selma, passed away on Monday March 10, 2008 at her home.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m.,Thursday, March 13, 2008, at St. Paul&8217;s Episcopal Church with Rev. James K. Polk VanZandt officiating and Lawrence Brown-Service Funeral Home directing.
Mrs. Carter is survived by two sons, James Robert Carter, Jr. (Jan) of Savannah, Georgia and Vandiver H. Carter (Marian) of Selma.
She is also survived by her grandchildren, Emily Cayne Rowe (Stephen) of Birmingham, Sarah Camille Morris (Caleb) of Selma, Laura Lee Kozusko (Joseph) of Austin, Texas, her greatgrandchildren, Lily James Rowe, Benjamen Vandiver Rowe, Ann Louise Rowe, Thomas Carter Morris, Andrew Edwards Morris, Elle Foster Kozusko, and her numerous loyal caregivers.
Pallbearers will be Julian Houston Smith, Catesby ap C. Jones, Catesby ap Roger Jones, Tommy ap Roger Jones, LeVerne S.
Gannt, Jr., Thomas Caleb Morris, Stephen J. Rowe, and Joseph M.
Kozusko. The family requests memorials be made to St. Paul&8217;s Episcopal Church or Cahaba Hospice.

AL died March 10, 2008 at a local hospital.
