Gov. Bob Riley will have the last word about whether residents of County Road 305 in Plantersville will get a water system.

Probate Judge Kim Ballard said Monday the Dallas County Commission is eligible for the Delta Regional Authority Grant program. But the information will go to the governor&8217;s office for selection from the list of pre-applications for funding.

The total project is expected to cost $190,000. The grant will likely total $160,000 and the county&8217;s responsibility will be $30,000 in matching funds.

In September, a group of residents told commissioners they are fed up with their water situation. Some residents complained that years of promises to bring a county water line through the road have run as dry as their wells.

At the time, Commissioner Roy Moore said a project would be a &8220;long drawn-out process.&8221; The residents live in Moore&8217;s District 2.

Riley is expected to select projects by April 11.
