Facing life in prison

Preston Nelson of Selma will spend the rest of his life in prison.
Nelson, 20, of 3015 W. Dallas Ave., was sentenced to life in prison by Circuit Court Judge Tommy Jones for he 2006 murder of Andrae Norwood.
“We are not going to tolerate these gunslingers hooting up Selma,” said District Attorney Michael Jackson, who prosecuted the case. “Preston needs to pack his suitcase because he is going off to prison for a long time.”
Norwood turned 19 less than 24 hours before he was shot in the back
as he walked down Minter Ave.
About 13 shell casings from a 9 mm were found on the scene. Norwood was shot once.
